Forsyth Central High School will play host to the Georgia Apply to College Program on Wednesday and Thursday.

By visiting different high schools, the annual event works to encourage students to apply for college.

Central counselor Evelyn Peterson said in a statement that seniors can “receive hands-on assistance from college representatives, Georgia Student Finance Commission [officials], teachers and counselors as they navigate the college application process.”

“The goal is for each student to successfully complete at least one college admission application using the Web site,” she said.

The site is the state’s online resource for providing information to students on planning, applying and paying for college.

It also helps them track progress, take online preparation courses, research high-demand careers and develop a portfolio and resume.

Representatives from many colleges will be at the event, which runs from 8:25 a.m.-3:40 p.m. both days.

Among the schools are: Andrew College; Brenau University; Gainesville State College; Georgia Gwinnett College; Georgia Southern University; Georgia Southwestern State University; Lanier Technical College; Shorter University; Southern Polytechnic State University; Reinhardt University; Valdosta State University; and the University of West Georgia.

College application fees will reportedly be waived on at least one of the two days by Andrew, Brenau, Gainesville, Georgia Gwinnett, Reinhardt and Shorter.
