How to enter

Posters should be submitted no later than March 15 to: Fire Department of Forsyth County, Attn: Edward Siggelkow, 3520 Settingdown Road, Cumming, GA 30028.

The Forsyth County Fire Department invites local third-graders to enter its third annual fire safety poster contest.

Students from public, private or home schools can show their artistic talents while promoting fire safety. The deadline to enter is March 15.

Three winners will enjoy a pizza party with their class and local firefighters. The winners and three runners-up will also have their artwork displayed in county buildings.

“We have had a great response in the first two years of holding the [contest],” said Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers. “We look forward to hopefully receiving even more poster entries this year.”

Fire Chief Danny Bowman added that the contest is a way to increase awareness while involving the community.

“One of the fire department’s goals is to prevent incidents from occurring through public education,” Bowman said.

All third-graders in Forsyth are encouraged to submit their own original designs and artwork. Clip art and copyrighted characters or logos will not be accepted.

Posters should be created on paper (minimum dimensions of 8.5 inches by 11 inches and maximum dimensions of 18 inches by 24 inches) with the required release form attached to the back. Entries won’t be accepted on poster board.

A panel of five judges will look over the submissions. All artwork submitted becomes the property of the local fire department and may be reproduced.

The release form and other contest information can be found online at www.forsythco.com.
