FORSYTH COUNTY — Parents who are ready to start making out their families’ schedules for next year can soon get started.

During a work session Thursday night, the Forsyth County Board of Education approved an initial draft for 2015-16 school year calendar. Parents and members of the community are encouraged to give input on it before Nov. 3.

Under the proposed schedule, the school year would start on Aug. 7, 2015, and end on May 27, 2016. Fall break would be the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 2, with winter break Dec. 21-Jan. 1. Spring break is set for April 4-8.

Students and staff would also have off Labor Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Feb. 12 and 15, the Friday before President’s Day and the holiday itself.

The proposal also has early release days — Sept. 2 and Oct. 21 and 22 — and March 11. Professional development days, in which students have a holiday, tentatively fall on Oct. 23, Jan. 4 and Feb. 16.
