FORSYTH COUNTY – Forsyth County Schools will be closed due to potential inclement weather Friday, Jan. 22.

According to the school district’s website, Friday will be an online learning day as there are no inclement weather days built into the student calendar.

Elementary schools will follow an “A day” schedule.

All before and after school activities and athletics are canceled for Friday and for Saturday, Jan. 23, which includes the SAT test that was scheduled to take place at West and North Forsyth high schools.

Information regarding the rescheduling of the college-entrance test will be posted on the two schools’ websites next week.

Central Office and 240-day staff should report at normal start times on Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to continue throughout the night, with new precipitation amounts between one-half and three-quarters of an inch possible.

A flood watch is in effect in Forsyth County from 3 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday.

A winter weather advisory is also in effect from 3 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Rain is predicted to turn into sleet around 5 p.m. Friday, with a high near 37 degrees.

It may begin to snow Friday night as the low drops to around 30. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1-2 inches is possible.

Saturday, snow is likely before 2 p.m. with a slight chance of rain and snow before 8 p.m.
