Teachers, students and parents may not have access to the school system’s resources off-site on Friday while the technology department migrates core services to a new data center hardware.
Beginning at noon on June 30, there will likely be “substantial outages impacting a variety of network services, up to and including a complete lack of network availability,” Forsyth County Schools announced. “This may include the ability to log into your computer, network printing, H: drives, network share drives, internet access, MUNIS, etc.”
Accessing district resources from off site, such as Infinite Campus, itsLearning, Forsyth’s Google services, Exchange email and other online applications that require authenticating to the system may be affected.
“Though the goal is to limit downtime to the afternoon of the 30th, it is possible that unforeseen issues could carry outages into the weekend and possibly through Monday, July 3,” the district said.
The announcement said outages are unavoidable “as the new hardware is brought into production as the old data center is taken offline.”
