CUMMING — Flu season is fast approaching, but Forsyth County students have the chance to get protected against the virus at no cost to their families.

The annual flu shot and flu mist clinic is set for 2:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at Otwell Middle School, 605 Tribble Gap Road, in Cumming.

Schools will release early for elementary (11:50 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.) and middle schools (1:30 p.m.).

Put on by the Forsyth County Health Department and Forsyth County Schools, the free clinic is open to children in the county who are 4-18 years old.

Last year, 842 students took advantage of the clinic, according to Jennifer Caracciolo, spokeswoman for the school district.

A parent must accompany all students.

If the child has insurance, the health department will file for them. If the child does not have insurance, the shot or mist will be free.
