A 17-year-old girl remained hospitalized Wednesday after a single-vehicle wreck in western Forsyth County, authorities said.
Forsyth County Sheriff’s Capt. Frank Huggins said Danielle Wright of Hyde Court was heading east on Drew Campground Road about 11 p.m. Tuesday when her 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup left the road.
Huggins said the teen was traveling “at a high rate of speed.” She apparently over-corrected, lost control of the truck and collided with two trees.
She was flown to Atlanta Medical Center, Huggins said, where she is listed in critical condition.
Authorities do not think alcohol and drugs were a factor in the wreck, though Huggins said Wright was not wearing a seat belt.
According to Forsyth County Schools spokeswoman Jennifer Caracciolo, Wright graduated in December from Forsyth Academy.
The wreck is still under investigation, Huggins said.
