The Forsyth County Schools Board of Education elected new board officers for the 2019-20 school year.
At Tuesday’s regularly-scheduled January meeting, the board welcomed new member Wes McCall, who represents District 1, and then unanimously voted to elect the following positions:
- Kristin Morrissey, District 2 — Board Chair
- Nancy Roche, District 5 — Vice Chair
- Darla Light, District 4 — Attendance protocol
- Tom Cleveland, District 3 — Drug council
- Wes McCall, District 1 — Legislative liaison
In a statement to the FCN, Morrissey said that she was honored to be elected as chair and excited to move forward into the new school year with several new schools and upcoming projects.
“I look forward to furthering the already strong relationships we have with other local and state representatives, the sheriff’s department, and the community at large,” Morrissey said. “This year is on target to be a very successful year for Forsyth County Schools and I am excited to represent our residents on the Board of Education.”
This will be the second time that Morrissey has been elected as board chair, serving once prior in the 2017-18 school year. She was first elected to the board in 2010.
