CUMMING — Land for Forsyth County’s sixth public high school has been secured by the district, which projects the future school to open in 2018.

Forsyth County Schools closed the $ 12.8 million deal for about 118.5 acres in south Forsyth on Nov. 7.

High School No. 6 will be built off Fowler Road, spanning nine lots between Fowler and Mullinax roads, which sits in the school board’s District 3. This is west of South Forsyth High.

The purchase included an exchange of 1.6 county-owned acres for right of way against about 1.3 acres acquired for the Mullinax Road improvement project, according to Jennifer Caracciolo, spokeswoman for the school district.

The funding came from the bond referendum for the school system that voters approved in May.

The high school will be officially named in 2015 and will be similar in design to Lambert and West Forsyth.
