Muzzy Online, the BBC language learning program, became available through the Forsyth County Public Library last week.
To access the program from home, residents need a library card and pin number.
Muzzy Online, a learning program targeted at elementary school ages, is used throughout Europe to teach foreign language.
It features eight popular languages, including French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and English as a second language.
Muzzy Online teaches language through native speaker narration in lessons and videos; “say and repeat” vocabulary pronunciation; activities that teach reading, writing and new vocabulary; and repetition.
By adding Muzzy to its online offerings, the library hopes to address the growing need of language learning for youth, according to a news release.
Research has shown it is easier to learn a foreign language if it is introduced at a young age.
Muzzy Online joins Mango Languages, an online database geared towards adult language learning.
Both Muzzy Online and Mango can be accessed from the library’s eResources page: http://www.forsythpl.org/eLibrary/eReference.aspx.
In addition, both are available as mobile apps and can be accessed from any device with an Internet connection.
