The Forsyth County Public Library will join libraries across the country in recognition of “El día de los niños/El día de los libros,” or Children’s Day/Book Day.

The library will celebrate with a special bilingual program for children and families starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cumming branch.

Known as Día, the event emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

The local celebration will feature Barry Stewart Mann, who has performed before audiences for nearly three decades as a storyteller, educator and actor. He will tell stories in English and Spanish.

Children and families also will get a chance to create crafts to take home.

The craft portion begins at 5:30 p.m., and Mann will perform at 6:30 p.m.

All ages are welcome to attend and no advance registration is required.
