Little Mill Middle School’s annual 5K race will this year support its track team.
The Mustang Twilight Trot 5K, previously known as the Mustang Stampede, will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, said Kimberly DeRose, family engagement coordinator with the school.
“Since we’re a new school, we don’t have the equipment for a track team and it’s one of our huge sports,” she said.
“We need a long jump pit and those kinds of things, so we need to raise money so we can get supplies for the team.”
The run, which is in its third year, will feature some changes, according to DeRose.
The 5K will be happening during the school week and in the evening to attract more families. It also will be held at the school, instead of at Otwell Middle.
“We wanted to use this as a chance to try to run it near the school,” DeRose said. “The course is hilly with views of Lake Lanier.”
To participate, visit www.active.com and enter Mustang Twilight Trot to register. The fee is $25. Registration will also be held before the event.
