North grad dies following wreck in Tenn.

A graduate of North Forsyth High School died Monday following a motorcycle wreck in Franklin, Tenn., south of Nashville.

Kory Wayne Dickey, 25, was struck by a pickup truck at 1:24 p.m. Monday on South Carothers, according to a news release from the Franklin Police Department.

Dickey was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Dickey, who lived in Franklin, was traveling south when “he lost control of his motorcycle and became airborne,” according to the news release.

He then slid into the northbound lane, where he was hit by the pickup. The driver of the truck was not injured.

“Traffic investigators believe that excessive speed by the motorcycle may have played a role in this crash,” according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to his obituary, Dickey graduated from North in 2005 and Georgia State University in 2010.

He lived in Franklin and worked with his parents at their furniture store in Brentwood, Tenn.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday in Tennessee.
