Pinecrest Academy is inviting the community to experience a day in the life of its students.

The private Catholic school in south Forsyth will hold its annual Peek Into Pinecrest on Tuesday, for pre-kindergarten and elementary students, and Wednesday, for middle and high school students.

“This provides an opportunity for families to walk around, talk to the teachers, visit the classrooms and [explore] the campus in a very informal way and to actually see the school day in action,” said spokeswoman Vivian Heard.

Heard said the school boasts 825 students, but has growth capacity for as many as 1,065.

New students are always welcome, a message that is getting out to the community.

“We just had a very, very strong open house,” Heard said. “It was probably one of the strongest we’ve had in a while.

“And we had new technology to showcase and a brand new building, so there were a lot of new things to see.”

Pinecrest recently added a new activities building and gymnasium that will alleviate some overflow, and also house basketball, music programs and guests.

It’s also a meeting venue, Heard said.

The school held its open house Jan. 8 for prospective students, but the peek event welcomes families during the school day.

Heard said it works in tandem for families who attended the open house, or for first-time visitors.

“It’s certainly a natural progression for somebody who came to the open house,” she said. “The open house is a little more formal … so this is a more informal way to introduce families to our school.”
