A private school in south Forsyth will be holding an open house this weekend for prospective students and their families.
From 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Pinecrest Academy will host an open house in the lower school gym to let parents and potential students learn more about the school. The event coincides with the school’s 25th anniversary.
“What we really try to do at our open house is help parents who have potential students understand … our educational philosophy and what it is we’re trying to do here at the school and then highlight some of the different things we have going on,” Headmaster Ed Lindekugel said.
The event will include speeches from Lindekugel and President David Steffy, music by Pinecrest students, a tour of the campus and talks from parents, alumni and the school’s admissions director.
“It’s pretty interactive, but also flexible. Teachers will help parents, give them tours, answer questions. We’ll haves students around. We’ll have a couple of alums speaking,” Lindekugel said. “Really, a lot of it is helping people understand what we’re trying to do and why they might consider us for their child.”
He said the school gives students a chance to reach their potential, both academically and spiritually.
“We have a really powerful and valuable mission,” Lindekugel said. “We’re really trying to help our students become Christian servant leaders and maximize their potential, and we really believe in that.”
He added that the school may cost parents money but there is value to the education they get.
“If there are people that really believe in [our] mission and want that for their children, I know there is a price tag on it here, but we have openings available, even in our high school, where we really have capacity to try and help them out,” he said.
Pinecrest Academy is at 955 Peachtree Parkway. More information about the school is available at pinecrestacademy.org.
