A New York Times bestselling author who is described as an expert in child and adolescent development is scheduled to speak at Pinecrest Academy Sunday evening at an event for parents.

Leonard Sax, author of “The Collapse of Parenting” and three other parenting books, will discuss topics related to “effective parenting in the digital age,” a news release said.
Issues Sax will discuss include: at what age a child should get a smartphone, “how much [parents] should know about what [their] daughter is doing on Instagram or Snapchat,” how much time is too much spent playing video games and what causes child anxiety, among other topics.
The event will be held in Pinecrest’s Upper School gym, and the event is free and open to the public with no registration required. It will run from 6-8 p.m.
