SOUTH FORSYTH -- Denise Cress, middle school principal at Pinecrest Academy, shows off a handmade bowl with her daughter, Bridget Cress, a junior in high school at the private parochial school.

Students, faculty and staff participated in the Empty Bowls project, an international grassroots effort to fight hunger, where participants make the bowls, eat a meal out of them and then make a donation to keep them as a reminder of “all the empty bowls in the world.”

The bowls created at Pinecrest will be on display at the school’s Empty Bowls dinner event on Nov. 12 from 6-6:45 p.m. on campus, where attendees will be served soup in exchange for a suggested donation of $10.
