Forsyth County News

Traffic likely will be heavier this week.

After being off since Dec. 21, students and staff in the Forsyth County school system will return to class Monday.

That means school buses and parents dropping off their students will fill area roads in the early morning and afternoon.

Thirteen elementary schools in Forsyth open at 7:40 a.m., while the other seven begin the class day at 8:20 a.m.

All high schools start at 8:25 a.m., with all middle schools opening at 9 a.m.

In the afternoon, the 13 earlier elementary schools release at 2:20 p.m. and the remainder get out at 3 p.m. High schools end the class day at 3:40 p.m. and middle schools at 4:15 p.m.

Students won’t have to wait long for another vacation day.

Jan. 21 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a holiday for both students and staff in all local public schools.
