FORSYTH COUNTY — Two Forsyth County residents recently earned the Girl Scouts Gold Award for completing projects demonstrating community leadership.

West Forsyth High’s Samantha Biondi’s project addressed the need for disabled individuals to have better access to places around the community by building a patio at her church’s education cottage.

Ansleigh Houston of South Forsyth High took on the lack of literacy in the world by building and stocking “Little Free Libraries” on the Little Free Library website.

She also handed out flyers in English and Spanish for literacy information days and advocated for Hispanic communities in Forsyth.

Houston also received a $2,000 Gold Award Scholarship.

Gold award honorees may receive unique scholarships from universities and colleges or receive advanced rank if they enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces.
