Two Forsyth County middle schools were honored during the recent state Science Olympiad.

According to its Web site, the Science Olympiad is a national event that seeks to enhance science education "through events that test students' understanding and application of science."

More than 300 schools in Georgia competed in the state event, held March 28 at Gainesville State College.

While other Forsyth County middle schools fared well at the regional science competition Feb. 28, only South and North middle schools were invited to the state competition.

Overall, South Forsyth placed 11th at state and North Forsyth finished 18th.

South Forsyth Middle's team received first place for Write It Do It, and fifth place in Pentathlon.

The best events for the team from North Forsyth Middle were Robo Cross, in which it took second place, and Crave the Wave, in which it earned fourth.
