The University of North Georgia on Friday announced makeup dates for inclement weather days.

The college’s four campuses, including Cumming, were closed Tuesday-Thursday this week.

To recover the lost time, University President Bonita Jacobs said officials “have determined it necessary to extend the semester by four days from Friday, April 25, to Thursday, May 1.”

Finals originally scheduled for May 2 will continue to be offered on that day, while those set for April 28 through May 1 will be moved one week later, to May 5-8.

The college also lost instructional days during last month’s winter storm.

“So far, we have missed six class days and it’s only mid-February,” Jacobs said in a statement. “We are fortunate to have these days available between the end of finals and commencement, as not all universities do, and some may be using days from spring break.

“These are unusual circumstances, and I appreciate the careful consideration given to this plan to ensure our students are able to complete their coursework successfully and in a timely manner.”
