Forsyth County residents can recycle their old electronics from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Cumming Fairgrounds on Castleberry Road.
Keep Forsyth County Beautiful coordinates the event, which gathered 91,278 pounds of electronics last November.
The organization’s environmental program manager, Tammy Wright, said that number “was almost double the amount collected in past years.”
She credited the event’s success to a positive attitude toward recycling.
“People are just going greener,” Wright said. “We’re in that green era.”
Electronics that may be recycled at Saturday’s event include computers, printers, cameras, cell phones, stereos and televisions.
Donations will be accepted per carload, and the minimum amount is $5.
An additional $10 fee will be charged for all acceptable televisions. Television types that won’t be allowed include wooden console and projection models.
City of Cumming representatives will be on hand Saturday for those looking to shred paper. Residents can bring up to two boxes of paper, which volunteers will shred for free.
Keep Forsyth County Beautiful is a county department that oversees recycling, among other environmentally-minded duties.
Thursday, the department will recognize volunteers who have helped with its various recycling efforts throughout the year.
