Plans for a new luxury hotel have been announced for the Halcyon development in south Forsyth.

In addition to restaurants, apartments and shopping, the proposed $370 million mixed-use development off the McFarland Parkway/Exit 12 of Ga. 400 will be home to a 154-room Embassy Suites hotel.

According to a news release from public relations firm The Wilbert Group, the 6,500-square-foot Halcyon Embassy Suites will include, “ballrooms, meeting space, a premier fitness area with an indoor pool, saunas and yoga studio, and an extensive bar and atrium, as well as presidential suites to serve the Forsyth County area’s luxury hospitality needs.”

“Hotels have always been a part of our master plan for Halcyon and the Hilton brands’ reputation of innovation and excellence are exactly what we envisioned to fulfill the need for high-end hotel and meeting space in Forsyth County,” said Patrick Leonard, principal with Halcyon developers RocaPoint Partners.

The release stated that Halcyon Embassy Suites will have a “distinct focus on fitness” and will incorporate a yoga studio, saunas, an indoor pool, hot tubs and a “broad greenspace” in its design.

According to Jay Darji, managing principal of hotel development firm The Heritage Hospitality Group Fund, the addition of the Halcyon Embassy Suites is aimed at giving new businesses and business travelers more luxury hotel options in Forsyth County.

“Across the Southeast, we’re seeing increased activity giving visitors more options in the luxury hotel market. Embassy Suites’ new hotels will be different than other luxury products, especially from anything seen in the Forsyth County area,” Darji said.

Added Darji: “Embassy Suites outperforms other flags [other luxury hotels] already, and as visitors travel northbound on Ga. 400, this will be a first class, lifestyle focused hotel for families and the corporate traveler. Businesses wanting to make an impression with their clients, partners, and employees will be hard pressed to find a better option.”

James McCoy, president and CEO of the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce called the addition of the luxury hotel to Halcyon a, “critical component” of attracting new corporations to the county.

“The hotel, along with all the amenities and tenants at Halcyon, will add to Forsyth’s portfolio nicely and continue to make us more competitive for the corporate relocations and headquarters we hope to call Forsyth home one day,” he said.

In late 2017 RocaPoint Partners announced more than 10 restaurants that have signed leases in the Halcyon development, including MidiCi Neapolitan Pizza, Cocina and Taqueria, Gu’s Dumplings, TOCAYO Butcher & Brew and Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Company.

The group also announced a 300-unit “luxury apartment community,” a 160-residence 55-and-older “active adult rental community” and 11,000 square feet of ground floor retail space located below the apartments.

The development is currently under construction and is tentatively scheduled to open in spring 2018.
