This weekend Sawnee Mountain Preserve will be fun and frightful.

Forsyth County’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the inaugural Family Fun Fest and Haunted Trail from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Sawnee Mountain Preserve Visitor Center. The event is free to attend.

“We are very excited to welcome the community to Sawnee Mountain Preserve for the first Family Fun Fest and Haunted Trail event,” Parks and Recreation Director Jim Pryor said in a news release. “We’re looking forward to a great evening of Halloween fun for the whole family.”

A Halloween costume contest for all ages will start at 6:30 p.m., and the haunted trail, for ages 8 and up, will begin at 7 p.m.

The festival will also have family crafts, games and nature-themed activities.
