Forsyth County will join more than 100 fire departments across Georgia to help “Give Burns the Boot” during an upcoming annual boot drive.
Motorists can expect to see firefighters at intersections throughout the county on Saturday, as well as May 12 and 19.
Donations collected during the boot drive will be presented to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.
The funds will be used for fire safety and prevention education, as well as to support medical facilities and help burn survivors recover.
Money raised will also go to Camp Oo-U-La, Georgia’s only camp held exclusively for children with burn injuries.
A portion of the total funds raised will be returned to Forsyth’s fire department to support local fire prevention and education efforts.
“We are very appreciative of the support the boot drive receives here in Forsyth County,” said Fire Chief Danny Bowman. “Year after year, our citizens demonstrate their compassion for Georgia’s burn victims through their generous donations.”
