The Forsyth County News earned 11 awards in the 2017 Georgia Associated Press Media Editors contest, including three first-place awards in categories for multiplatform and visual work.
The FCN swept all three places in the category for Best Multiplatform Coverage of a Single Story. Sports Editor Ian Frazer and former sports editor Brian Paglia took first-place for coverage of the 2017 Forsyth County Football Media Day. Bradley Wiseman and Kelly Whitmire took second-place for their interview with local artist and cartoonist Ben Boling for 400 The Life magazine. Wiseman and former editor Frank Reddy took third-place for their video following a local paranormal investigative team.
Online editor Jim Dean took first- and second-place in the category for Best Spot News Photo.
Wiseman swept first- and second-place in the category for Best Photo Illustration and took third-place in the category for Best Portfolio for his overall photography work.
Former FCN reporter Isabel Hughes took second-place in the category for Best Non-Deadline Reporting for her coverage of an infant dying from injuries at the hands of her father during a domestic dispute.
Reddy took third-place in the category for Best Feature Writing for his story following a local paranormal investigative team.
Whitmire took third-place in the category for Best Beat Reporting for his overall coverage of local government in Forsyth County.
