Authorities are investigating a fire Monday that caused extensive damage to a mobile home in northeastern Forsyth.

According to Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers, a neighbor reported the blaze about 9:52 a.m. after seeing black smoke pour from the residence on Hickory Hills Road, off Parks Road.

The home, which officials said is likely at least 50 years old, was not occupied at the time.

The closest fire station is on nearby Browns Bridge Road. According to Shivers, two tankers were also dispatched because there are no fire hydrants in the neighborhood.
