Fire damages north Forsyth lake house

NORTH FORSYTH -- A lake house in northeast Forsyth was heavily damaged Sunday afternoon after it caught fire.

Firefighters responded to 9910 Kings Road off Waldrip Road about 1:45 p.m. on April 2 after they received a 911 call about a structure fire at a single-family residence that was being used as a weekend lake home, according to Division Chief Jason Shivers, a spokesman for the fire department.

Two people were spending the weekend there, though reportedly only one was home when the fire started.

That person was able to get out of the house and meet firefighters in the yard, resulting in no injuries, Shivers said.

Two pets were also unharmed.

An investigator was on scene Sunday, and the cause of the blaze is not yet known.

The incident required six engine companies, a ladder truck, two battalion chiefs, a light air support vehicle and an ambulance.

Shivers said 25 personnel worked for nearly five hours to put out the fire.
