NORTH FORSYTH — The Forsyth County Animal Shelter is in need of more volunteers, especially dog walkers, so the animals can spend more time outside

Shelter manager Jeanie Curphey said volunteers usually work about six to eight hours a month at the shelter.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Children younger than 18 are not permitted to handle the animals.

Other volunteer opportunities available include cat care, event help, grooming and cleaning.

The next volunteer orientation is set for 10:30 a.m. Aug. 8.

Volunteers can go to the shelter, 4065 County Way in north Forsyth, between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday to fill out an application.
