Forsyth County Animal Shelter waives adoption fee for holidays
Forsyth County Shelter
The Forsyth County Animal Shelter is waiving its standard $85 pet adoption fee as part of a “Home for the Holidays” promotion that will run through Jan. 3.

Dressed in Christmas bowties and wearing green antlers, dogs and cats playfully batted at the veterinary technicians, half-heartedly resisting their holiday garb.

From every corner of the Forsyth County Animal Shelter, meows and barks sounded as the felines and canines begged to be adopted.

In an attempt to make holiday wishes come true for families and pets, the shelter is waiving its standard $85 pet adoption fee as part of a

“Home for the Holidays” promotion that will run through Jan. 2.

“No one wants to think about a pet spending the holidays in a shelter, which is why we are hoping this special promotion will encourage residents to bring home a cat or dog to be a part of their family,” said shelter Manager Cindy Iacopella.

“All of the pets at the shelter deserve a good home, especially this time of the year. By taking advantage of this promotion, residents can not only save money but more importantly give a new life to these wonderful animals,” Iacopella said.

With more than 150 cats at the shelter and dozens of dogs, Iacopella said she hopes the promotion will increase interest.

The shelter’s standard $85 adoption fee includes microchipping for all pets, spaying and neutering and age-appropriate vaccinations, all of which will be included with the waived fee.

Those unable to adopt but who would like to volunteer are welcome to do so, Iacopella said. She added the shelter is also always looking for pet foster parents and food, toys and bedding donations.

Adoptions are available from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The shelter will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Dec. 26 for Christmas as well as Monday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.
