FORSYTH COUNTY — When sitting at a traffic light at various Forsyth County intersections over the next few weekends, don’t be surprised if a firefighter walks up with a boot.
Starting Saturday and continuing May 9 and 16, the Forsyth County firefighters will be participating in the annual “Give Burns the Boot” drive to raise money for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.
Donations will go toward fire safety and prevention education, medical facilities and assistance for burn survivors. A portion of money raised will also go to Camp Oo-U-La, the state’s only camp for children with burn injuries.
Forsyth is one more than 100 fire departments in Georgia to take part in the drive, and a portion of the money raised will go toward local fire prevention and education efforts.
