Forsyth County firefighters holding annual boot drive

FORSYTH COUNTY — If you saw Forsyth County firefighters standing at an intersection over the weekend, they had a good reason to be there.

Beginning May 7 and continuing on the next two Saturdays, the Forsyth County Fire Department is hoping to “give burns the boot” by collecting money for the annual boot drive to support the Georgia Firefighters Burn Association.

“We are sincerely appreciative of the support the boot drive receives each year,” said Fire Chief Danny Bowman in a statement. “The Forsyth County Fire Department is privileged and honored to serve in such a caring community.”

Money raised will go towards medical facilities, fire safety and prevention education, assistance to burn survivors and a camp held for children with burn injuries.

Some funds will also stay locally to aid fire prevention and education efforts.

For those who can’t give in person, donations can also be made online at https://fundraise.gfbf.org/forsythcountyfire

The Georgia Firefighters Burn Association was established in 1982 to aid education efforts and to help burn survivors in the metro Atlanta area and now serves the entire state. For more information, go to http://www.gfbf.org/.
