FORSYTH COUNTY - A fire alarm call at Vickery Creek Middle School Saturday night turned out to be an actual fire, according to officials with the Forsyth County Fire Department.

Firefighters dispatched at 9:16 Saturday night arrived and found a small fire burning in the gym.  Although more engines and a ladder truck were called once it was learned there was a fire in the building, the fire was brought under control and put out very quickly, according to officials.

Jeff Hundley, a fire investigator with the Forsyth County Fire Department said that the fire is still under investigation, but that it did not initially appear to be suspicious.  Tim Monroe, with Forsyth County School Safety, said the fire was in an area where the gym floor was being refinished.

Monroe also said that damage to the school was minimal, and that classes would go on as normal on Monday.
