Forsyth County teen named volunteer of the Year

Forsyth County teen Olivia Edge has been announced as a Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Volunteer of the Year for her work to beautify parks and roads in the local community by picking up trash. Earlier this year, Edge turned 14 and used her birthday wish to ask for a “cleanup kit” so she could remove trash from the area around Caney Creek Preserve and Caney Road.

On Wednesday, Oct. 16, Edge and representatives of the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department were honored at the annual GRPA District 7 Banquet held in Hall County. The parks and recreation department accepted two awards at the banquet, the Agency of the Year award and the Distinguished Professionals award for programmer Clayton Munnell.
