Forsyth Fire Department graduates 25 at swearing-in ceremony

At a ceremony held on Friday, Oct. 11 at Mountain Lake Church in north Forsyth County, the Forsyth County Fire Department graduated its largest-ever firefighter recruit class, swearing in 25 recruits that recently completed 36 weeks of firefighting and EMS training.

In addition to the class of new recruits, six individuals received promotions within the fire department and nine firefighters new to Forsyth County were sworn in as county firefighters.

“We are pleased to welcome these new members of the Forsyth County Fire Department family and applaud those receiving promotions for a job well done,” Forsyth County Fire Chief Barry Head said in a press release about the ceremony. “Each promotion ceremony is a wonderful opportunity to spotlight the brave men and women who serve our communities.”

Promotions awarded at the ceremony include:

  • Fire Instructor Ronald Greame Fagan was promoted to division chief of operations,
  • Jason Thomas Stover was promoted to division chief fire marshal,
  • Fire Lieutenant Keith Andrew Pertschi was promoted to chief of training,
  • Fire Lieutenant William Marion Raines was promoted to battalion chief,
  • Fire Apparatus Operator John Shaw Allen was promoted to fire lieutenant,
  • Fire Apparatus Operator Kevin Badley Lindsey was promoted to fire lieutenant.
