A multi-car wreck on Old Atlanta Road left four people with serious injuries Tuesday evening.

No one sustained life threatening injuries in the crash that closed the road down for about 45 minutes at the end of rush hour, blocking the Bethany Spring Trace intersection near Gilbert Road, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Doug Rainwater said.

Three vehicles were northbound on Old Atlanta Road when one of them, a Jeep, rear ended a Honda, Rainwater said. The Honda then sideswiped a Hyundai before spinning out of control – sideways – into oncoming traffic in the southbound lane. The Honda was met head-on by a Chevrolet van, the impact of which forced the Honda off the road.

Rainwater said the Traffic Specialist Unit from the sheriff’s office investigated the accident.

A 39-year-old, 46-year-old and a 42-year-old, all males, and a 41-year-old female passenger – in the Hyundai – were injured. Two were taken to Northside Hospital-Forsyth, while the other two were taken to North Fulton Hospital.

The only person not injured was the driver of the Jeep. Charges were pending as of Wednesday afternoon.
