Fowler Road remains closed after construction vehicle overturns
emergency

Forsyth County emergency officials are dealing with an ongoing road closure after a piece of heavy machinery overturned on Fowler Road near Atlanta Highway Thursday afternoon.

In a statement posted to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Facebook page Friday morning, the Sheriff's Office confirmed that Fowler Road would remain closed until 2 p.m. Friday.

According to Division Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department at about 1:40 p.m. Thursday, a large county-owned construction vehicle overturned and caused significant damage to the vehicle and the road, leaving the driver with non life-threatening injuries.

Cpl. Doug Rainwater, spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office,  said that the vehicle was traveling west on Fowler Road when it lost control, left the roadway and overturned onto the roadway after striking a tree.

The driver, a county employee, was taken to North Fulton Hospital.

Shivers said Thursday evening that Fowler Road is closed to repair the road and remove hazardous fluids from the scene.

This incident is still under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Traffic Specialist Unit.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
