A Gainesville woman was found dead Monday night near Yonah Mountain in White County, according to authorities.

The White County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday morning the woman was 27-year-old Virginia Grace Hill of Gainesville and said an autopsy will be performed Wednesday.

The department said Hill was believed to be alone when she fell.

A 911 call was made before 8:30 p.m. Monday night, and rescue personnel and the Sheriff’s Office responded.

The investigation is ongoing.
