This weekend a golf tournament will be held in memory of a North Forsyth High School Golfer.
On Saturday, the third annual Joe Dumphy Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Chestatee Golf Club in Dawsonville.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and a shotgun start is at 9:30 a.m.
Dumphy was a rising sophomore in 2015 when he and his grandparents were involved in a head-on collision as they were leaving Chestatee Golf Club. Both he and his grandfather were killed in the crash.
The $125 registration fee includes raffle tickets for dozens of prizes. Special prizes will be given for long drive and closest-to-the-pin, and there will be a hole-in-one competition on hole 17, or Joe’s Hole, which Dumphy scored a pair of hole-in-ones on.
The tournament will have tee gifts, raffles and a catered lunch by Moe’s Southwest Grill.
Earlier this year, four students were awarded the Joe Dumphy Memorial Golf Scholarship, the second year it has been offered. The scholarship is open to students in Forsyth and Dawson counties, and funds are raised through the tournament.
Tickets can be purchased at by email at cheryl.howard@chestateegolfclub.com or by phone at (706) 216-7336.
