NORTH FORSYTH — A 71-year-old man was injured Thursday afternoon in crash involving a tractor-trailer at Dawsonville Highway (Hwy. 53) and Keith Bridge Road (Hwy. 306) in northeastern Forsyth County.

The condition of Jerry Payne, 71, of Gainesville has stabilized, said Georgia State Patrol Trooper Jonathan Folendore.

The call to GSP came in about 1:30 p.m. and involved a tractor-trailer and a PT Cruiser driven by Payne.

“The PT Cruiser for unknown reasons crossed the centerline and struck the rear of the tractor [trailer],” said GSP Sgt. George Harper.

Payne was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in serious condition, Harper said.

No injuries were known for the tractor-trailer driver, Shawn Ostlund of Winter Haven, Fla.
