The Forsyth County Republican Party meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Forsyth County Senior Center. More information can be found online at www.forsythgop.org.
Secretary of State Karen Handel is scheduled to speak Tuesday during the Forsyth County Republican Party’s monthly meeting.

Handel, a 2010 Republican gubernatorial candidate, has previously visited the county for Rotary Club meetings and a September gathering of the Republican Women of Forsyth County.

“We are actually quite fortunate,” said Ethan Underwood, chairman of the local Republican Party. “Forsyth County is a very populated county and it’s very important in the Republican primaries.

"We’ve been having folks knock on our door asking to come speak, so we’re going to have as many candidates seeking office next year as possible. We’re booked up almost solid all the way through July.”

Before the keynote address, Underwood said there's is a 10-minute slot for another speaker. This week, District 51 state Sen. Chip Pearson will speak.

Pearson, a Republican from Dawsonville, is expected to discuss the upcoming legislative session. Underwood said Handel “will talk about her role as secretary of state and her gubernatorial race.”
