Fire officials are investigating a blaze that destroyed an empty rental home early Saturday morning on Bennett Road in northeastern Forsyth.

Forsyth County Fire Lt. Debbie Lindstrom said the fire was reported about 12:30 a.m. by a passer-by who saw flames from the road.

She said the home, which had been vacant for about a month, was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

No injuries were reported in connection with the blaze.

The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation, Lindstrom said.
