NORTH FORSYTH -- Looking for a furry friend? Saturday is the “purr-fect” time to find one by going to the Humane Society of Forsyth County’s cat adoption event.
The event, touted as “the first annual for purrs only adoption event,” will be held in honor of National Cat Adoption Day, which falls on Oct. 29 each year.
Rucker Horse and Pet, located at 3540 Keith Bridge Road, will host the event, which is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition to adoptions, the Humane Society will offer face painting, temporary tattoos, trick-or-treating and a bake sale.
All proceeds from the bake sale will go to the shelter’s low-cost spay and neuter program.
Though this is the shelter’s inaugural cat-only event, the nonprofit has served the county for more than 40 years.
Established in 1975, the Humane Society has adopted more than 20,000 animals into permanent homes and is the only no-kill animal shelter in Forsyth County. It is not affiliated with the ASPCA, Humane Society of the United States or associated branches.
Its operation is supported solely by modest fees and donations. For more information, visit forsythpets.org.
