A local group is looking for volunteers to help cleanup waterways flowing through Forsyth County.
Keep Forsyth County Beautiful, the local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, will host the annual Lake Lanier Shore Sweep and Rivers Alive waterway cleanup event Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Volunteers will meet at either Bald Ridge (1850 Bald Ridge Marina Road) or Port Royale (8800 Port Royale Drive) marinas for instructions and supplies. Lunch will be provided for volunteers after return from the cleanup site.
Organizers are also seeking volunteers with “all types” of boats who are interested in cleaning sites with no land access. Volunteers with boats can contact kdsmith@forsyth.com.
Those interested in the event should register by today. Registration can be completed by calling Keep Forsyth County Beautiful at (770) 205-4573 or by going online to keepforsythcountybeautiful.org. A required waiver can also be found at the website.
