The Festival of the Arts at Cumming First United Methodist Church, which wrapped up Sunday, posted its largest attendance to date.

John Hutchinson, the church’s arts director, estimated that between 5,000 and 6,000 people visited the fourth annual community festival, which showcases professional and student artwork and music over the course of a week.

“It was the best one we’ve ever had,” Hutchinson said. “Everything was just outstanding all the way around.”

Aside from the crowds, he said more artwork was on display and more pieces sold this year.

Several of the show’s artists, which came from across the region and nation, gave high praise to the show, Hutchinson said.

“It really is Forsyth County’s premiere arts event,” he said. “We’re very grateful that so many artists ... are finding us and are anxious to be part of the show.”

Plans are in the works for next year’s festival, which is again scheduled to open to the public two weeks after Easter.
