CUMMING — Dog owners can bring their pets to Deer Creek Shores Presbyterian Church on Saturday to have them blessed at a family — and dog — day event.

The Blessing of the Dogs will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the church at 7620 Lanier Drive.

Tanna Savage of the church said Cub Scout Pack 39 plans to keep attendees fueled with concessions, and treats for pets and kids will be on hand.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit will demonstrate maneuvers, and a blessing will take place at noon by the Rev. John S. Martin.

Dog contests will feature winners from categories that include smallest, largest, oldest, youngest, best markings and dog-owner lookalikes.
