This spring, Norman’s Landing table tennis tournament benefits March of Dimes, an organization restaurant owner Bill Norman said is “full of great people.”

The annual spring ping pong tournament starts at 7 p.m. March 24 and 25.

Norman said he’s spent the last few weeks contacting past players from around the country to get a “good group of people out there playing some ping pong.” He’s placed about 260 calls so far.

Norman said the tournament generally brings in 35 to 45 players on the first day and then 25 to 35 for the doubles tournament.

Men’s and women’s singles is scheduled for March 24, while doubles tournaments will be held the next day. All tournaments are single elimination. The entry fee is $15.

Norman’s Landing ping pong tournaments have raised more than $60,000 for local charities and organizations. This will be the 26th tournament the restaurant has held since opening.

“We expect a bunch of people,” Norman said. “Hopefully, we’ll have a great crowd ... I’ll be right in there. I’m going to practice this time around and see if I can win this one.”

First-place winners receive gift certificates for Norman’s Landing, which is off Ga. 400 at Exit 13. Participants receive a free T-shirt or hat for entering.
