SOUTH FORSYTH — Forsyth County Senior Services will present two summer-themed events in the coming weeks.

From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, a summer dance and chili cook-off called “You Can’t Stop the Heat” will be held at Sexton Hall Enrichment Center, 2115 Chloe Road in south Forsyth.

Sexton Hall will also be the site of a patriotic concert from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 29.

The dance and chili cook-off event is limited to adults age 40 and older, while the concert on June 29 is for all ages.

Both events will feature live music from the Sounds of Sawnee Concert Band.

Cost of the dance and chili cook-off is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. In addition to the cook-off, light refreshments are included in the admission cost.

Entry to the dance is free for those registering and entering the cook-off.

Judy Theilman, director of senior services, said in a statement that the event is part of senior service’s bimonthly dance series, which “continues to be popular and well-attended.”

“We are looking forward to adding an exciting chili cook-off,” she said.

Theilman went on to note that the patriotic concert will be the fourth “in our 2014 concert series and we are anticipating another great turnout.”

Cost of the concert is $5 in advance or $8 at the door. Refreshments will also be included.
