The hustle and bustle of the holiday season has officially begun, but a local civic club hopes to help bring a little calm.

The North Forsyth 400 Rotary Club will hold its first Christmas Choral Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Central Park Recreation Center.

Club member David Leathers said the event will feature performances by the North Forsyth High School chorus and free refreshments.

“We want to invite folks to come in and have coffee and desserts to set the mood and tone for the holidays,” Leathers said.

He said the Rotary club was inspired by a high school choral performance last year.

“We had a group come to one of our lunch meetings last year,” he said. “It was so moving, we said we need to do this each year and open it up to the public.”

Leathers said the club provides assistance to several educational programs on the county’s north end, including the North Forsyth High Interact Club, which is a Rotary organization.

“Members of that club will be helping out with this event too,” he said.

“We have adopted all the educational groups that feed into North Forsyth High School, so we want to do all we can to help them out.”

He said while the choral event is free, any donations would be passed along to support the school’s choral program.

“But mostly we want to share the joy of the Christmas season with everyone,” he said.
