CUMMING — A celebration at the National Guard Regional Readiness Center that had been scheduled for Saturday has been canceled.
Kimberly Starr, one of the organizers of Community Day, which had been planned to mark the one-year anniversary of the armory’s opening on Aquatic Circle in Cumming, said weather forecasts led to the decision to cancel the free event.
“With a 60 to 80 percent chance of rain in the forecast, we unfortunately made the very difficult call to cancel this event,” Starr said.
Most of the activities were to be held outdoors on the grounds surrounding the armory, with just a few slated for indoors.
According to Starr, a similar event may be scheduled for some time later this year, but there are no plans to reschedule Community Day.
